Not if you have a good radar detector and not a $40 POS. If you actually want to pick up the cops with a little heads up and not have tons of false alarms buy a decent radar detector at least. You don't have to buy a Valentine One but don't go bottom of the line!

I guess for your purposes a cheap radar detector would work but if you have never got a moving violation so far why bother? Don't want to get a false sense of security with any detector cheap or exspensive :) Take Captain Howdy's great advice from a previous post on this, it's spot on!) but at any rate just keep your other senses on full alert when speeding...it will do u good. BTW the 2.4 will do 126? Wish I would have known that b4 I bought my 2.2. No matter HHR is still an awesome car either way.

I don't believe in radar detectors. I just follow behind a person that has one in their car.

I still say the $40 detector works aslong as you are familiar with your surroundings.I delivered chinese 5 days a week for 2 years, always speeding and never got a speeding ticket.I did however get a tint ticket which sucked cause I just had it done.It didn't matter anyway since some chick cut me off and totalled the car a few weeks later.

I drive mainly highway to work. Its 30 miles to work and about 3 miles of city driving ( I wouldnt speed in the city even if I did have a radar detector. I work right next to the highway patrol office so I can't go that 3 miles without seeing a few dozen cops. And the highway I drive is in the middle of nowhere.

I would have to agree that you are not going to get many false alarms if their is nothing around to trigger them. But a cheap radar DETECTOR isn't going to give you as much time to react. Especialy at 115. I have had both cheap radar detectors and good radar detectors and I can tell you from personal trial and error that you will be a lot happier with at least a mid-range radar detector. I am trying to bring myself to spend the $400 for a Valentine One but I can't justify it.

I might just not get one at all for that reason. Now that I think about it, after time I think i'd start to lean more and more on the radar detector and not keep an eye out for them like I do now. I'll just keep with my original plans and get a cb installed.

At 115, it doesn't matter what kind of detector you have, just don't be the fastest one on the road.
BTW, hit 110 on Fl turnpike and still plenty left to go faster!
