I stood 2 feet away from president elect Reagan holding a box of xerox supplies that nobody ever noticed. And then VP elect Bush put his hand on my shoulder and informed me that the elevator I was trying to board was for him.

A few minutes earlier I had set the box down in the lobby of the New Executive Office Building in front of 10 Secret Service officers and walked out the front door to smoke a cigarette because they had shut the elevator lobby down to clear it for some VIPs.

Doesn't your state still have the regular Driver license, I would think you could still get that when renewal is due, no ?

That's what I got, regular license.

If for some odd reason I have to fly to some other state and go the federal building there, guess they would be outta luck.

One American in Bangkok told me that they gave him the SECOND !!! passport at the embassy. He was going to go to Indonesia and this could be a problem for his next visits to Israel to relatives. He said that it is legal for the United States to have 2 equivalent passports at once. He said that if he were in the United States territory, he could receive a second passport simply by post. Just a statement, a small payment and all, no problems. It was 2014.

This is NOT a mandatory thing, just if you fly or go to Federal Bldgs often. Those links from Don & Doc should clear that up.

If your DL is not compliant there are other acceptable forms of ID to fly.

Nice catch 22... If I had those things, my DL would be compliant.

Not that I'm going to be flying anywhere anyways...

I just find the whole "real ID" thing incredibly stupid.... Suddenly, after being on this planet for over 60 years, I am no longer "real".

Give me a break!
