Went to get my tires checked at Discount Tire today because I felt a slight vibration. As I pull into the lot, I pull in behind another HHR.. Another Standard Transmission none the less, and it was also black. Owner gets out and looks at mine front and back, and we get into the store, and he starts telling me how nice it looks, and asking me where I got the mods from, and how much they cost.. was also cool to know that someone else with a rear air box bracket problem on their Manual HHR.. Take that Dayton! :P haha

Maybe its something specific to 5-Speed HHR's, cool that you ran into another HHR.

Potentially. Because we have the ability to exert more force on the Air Box/Bracket unknowingly due to the vehicle being a 5sp. And this gentleman was about 50's or so.. So I don't think it's just me. I do think that it's poor part formation and quality..

Well it does make sense, the stock airbox does have some mass to it, and being mounted in rubber grommets on "stilts" it can and does move independently of the engine. Possibly that back and forth motion as you shift is causing metal fatigue in the bracket, then "snap" there it goes again.

Still plan on having the old broken one welded back up and reenforced when you get home to Michigan?

30 something isn't jail bait. Can you tell I'm ready for the sun to come out, or at least get over 45 degrees so I can turn on the heat pump. Here this ones over forty, well preserved I'd say, watch your head.
