Senior food shopping at 6 am

I have to tell you what I experienced at 6 am at the local Stop and Shop by me.
Stop and Shop said starting 3/19 from 6 to 7:30 am only seniors are allowed to shop there.
Being 69 I said "Self let's go".
Only needed two items, but had to test the waters.
Dark, raining and the parking lot looked like black friday after Thanksgiving.
People looked like ants going anyway they wanted with no concern for anybody else. Had to buy, had to buy.
No please or excuse me was ever said.
So the younger people have no manners ?
The dairy corner was the worst. I just had to get butter.
People wanting milk and eggs, you know the usual suspects you need to cook with.
A guy came out of the back with a large roller tray of white bread and I heard "The bread is here".
I expected a roar from the crowd but it didn't happen. Only arms and legs to get to it.
I did say "Please have your ration coupons ready". Pertaining to WW 2.
I did hear someone say "You got that right".
I was amazed at this buying frenzy that to me is not needed.
This is my rant for today.

"One bottle of "Imodium" and he could calm down".

I have not seen any panic here so far but this is a small town away from all the crazies.

Chicken seems to be in short supply but no problem with Red Meats.
Costco here has been doing a good job of keeping up with the demand and sanity in the store.
They are getting TP and Towels in on e regular basis but do run out quickly.
This store has an employee wiping handles on the carts as you come into the store .
They have also cleared a large area at the checkout so when busy you can keep your distance while in line.
No problem at the gas pump and prices are starting to come down.
The small farmers in the area will start coming into the supply chain before to long.

In the metro Toronto area T paper goes as fast as they can put it out. Walmart put a one pack limit on T paper and other items too. I bought a case of Kleenex(12 boxes per case... just in case.

But what is the fascination of buying TP ?
I mean even if a hurricane is going to hit you never hear of it being all bought up.

A week ago we went to town to hit the local grocery store. There were signs w / limits on many of the items. And the cashier said they really have to enforce them as well.
