Sharing Something Special With My Friends

While I was going thru the NASCAR board this morning, I was thinking about all that has happened in the NASCAR world over the years. I remember the 2001 Daytona 500 like it was yesterday. It was the day the NASCAR world lost it's biggest star in turn 4 of the final lap. Even people who didn't watch NASCAR knew what a huge impact this would have on the sport.

The day after Dale Earnhardt died, I started working on a tribute page for our fallen star.
I worked non-stop when I wasn't working for 2 straight days putting it together.

After sharing it with my friends on the NASCAR board, I felt compelled to share it with all of my HHR buddies as well.

It is graphic intense (some made by myself) and also has music embedded, so please be patient while it loads.
To this day, it still brings tears to my eyes.

Very nice, Deb. That was good. It was a very dark day for all of NASCAR that day. The strange thing about that day is he actually stayed back to fend off the other cars so his teammate at the time, Michael Waltrip, and his son would both win the race. He hardly ever did that. I remember Darrell Waltrip crying that his younger brother had won and then saying "God I hope Dale is alright. We don't see any movement"

You're so right...reading what you wrote brought chills to me even today. It is something that I will certainly never forget. Darrell Waltrip was so excited about Mikey and yet so concerned for Dale and you could hear it in his voice.

I was always an old school NASCAR fan and Earnhardt was the absolute demonstration of that...an Intimidating competitor and a friend to drivers and fans off track...He was what NASCAR should always strive to be...

I worked a week on my Son's memorial webpage. i couldnt use my own music and had to pick one from theirs but Sean would have liked it.

the pics took forever to scan them in and post them. the bio took me 4 days. the Psalm to Sean took me several days and is very tough reading.

i still visit it every once in a while to see if there are any more tributes posted.

i lost my sister when i was 21 and my Dad 2 years ago and even ur sister and ur Dad do not hit you the same way.. I still struggle daily w my Son being gone.
He was my best friend

CJ...when I was going thru that page today...I thought of you and how tough what you have gone thru must be. I cannot even fathom the pain a parent must experience when they lose a child. Your tribute to your son was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. God Bless You and your family.
