Shipments

Rockauto stopped sending me parts,
as an experiment, a couple of days ago I put a bulb in the basket, indicated the address, proceeded to pay - at this stage I received a message that my order was too large (large size) and could not be delivered to my address.
I don't blame the supplier - rockauto hasn't let me down before, and I don't see any malice now.
Just another supply chain broken.

Yesterday the U.S. House voted 424-8 to suspend normal trade relations with Russia. The way I understand it, this is not a complete ban but tariffs will go up and there will be other barriers.

Today Apple announce it will cease sales of its products in Russia. Companies that continued to do business in Russia endure severe criticism in the press.

Rock Auto may have simply joined many many other companies worldwide in ceasing all trade with Russia, due to outrage over the Ukraine invasion and the rocket attacks on civilian targets, even hospitals. The UN says at least
700 Ukrainian civilians have been killed and probably many more, and the Ukraine government claims 3000. Approximately 3 million civilians have already fled the Ukraine in an unceasing tide.

News like this is probably not readily available to you right now. I’m mildly surprised you still have access here because it’s widely reported that ordinary Russian citizens are experiencing internet restriction and being given a distorted view of what is happening. Today Russia cut off access to Facebook completely, apparently an attempt to reduce awareness and organizing of war protests.

This will get worse before it gets better, so get the things you need while you can

Probably has to do with Russia and Ukraine "disagreement". I doubt any US or western company will be caught dealing in Russia for a while. The cost of international belligerence, sorry individual citizens have to pay. Our gas prices are zooming because of it.

Hi guys. Thank you for letting me know how the situation looks from your side. I must say, I am pleased that your judgments are reasonable, benevolent and devoid of negative emotions.
Steve asked me to avoid anything that looks like politics. He is a reasonable person who cares about compliance with the rules of communication on the forum. I am inclined to adhere to his recommendations and will refrain from further public discussion.
As for Rockauto. This is a great company, no doubt about it. I really think so. Well, Yes, they stopped supplying me with spare parts - but comparing the facts, I understand that this is not an emotional decision, but a necessary measure associated with a break in logistical routes. By the way, they have a Russian-speaking employee on staff. A few years ago I talked to him on the phone. If he is still working there - I give him a big hello.
Facebook.. Well, what can I say. In the US, Facebook is a powerful means of communication, but in Russia, the popularity of this company is hardly even in the top 10. To be honest, if the media hadn’t reported about the blocking of Facebook, I would hardly have noticed it. I've never been on Facebook, although I did visit Trump a couple of times in his first year in office. This is not a typical character. Now I tried to remember my friends who have a Facebook account - no one comes to mind.

I don’t have a Facebook account, just not interested.
As for RockAuto and others , if they can’t get the parts to you , why take your money? I really like their services, and I use them for almost everything on the BlackSwan and Blue Steel. It’s not their fault, UPS, FedEx or whatever shipping companies can’t get to deliver your parts.

This is what I had in mind when I wrote about broken logistical routes.

In certain circles, Facebook is a necessary evil. You can get left out of family discussions, for example, or other social groups. They use their monopoly power ruthlessly in the U.S. because they can, because the government fails to enforce antitrust laws, because politician need corporate “campaign contributions” (legalized bribes) to get elected. Facebook is infuriating to use. They change the buggy user interface arbitrarily, and seeming don’t care that their users are frustrated, only that they are dependent. They would be forced to improve if they had competition, but that they simple crush.

Nobody has heard of the embargo of goods from the US to Russia? They are calling it "sanctions". Maybe the Russian media is not informing it's citizens about the invasion of Ukraine and it's international repercussions.
Russia has been cut out of the international money clearing house (SWIFT) so there is no way to purchase goods in the US with Rubles.
