I was almost on the floor laughing at this one. I agree with everyone that people need to grow up.
Snickers should have taken a stand and should not have pulled it. That is the only way to shut people up that object to things like this. The big corporations need to just stop giving into a hand full of people. The backlash would not last as long as people thing. In a couple of months something new would offend these groups and forget all about snickers.

No matter what you do today, it seems to be politically incorrect, to someone. The commercials were meant to expose and sell the products. The ones I saw were of bad taste to me. I don't think there was one that made me want to go out and buy what they were trying to sell. This commercial stuff is getting out of hand, almost as bad as political adds in election years. Yes a couple were cute, but still I think they are getting out of hand and I wouldn't rave about any of them, including the Budweisers commercials. None of them tickled my fancy, but again, I'm me and entitled to my opinion too. Just my
Oh BTW, Dale Jr.........don't give up NASCAR..........
The HHR commercial almost made me want to hide my HHR....whew

Vaild points but if you walk into a store and go to grab a candy bar are you going to stop and think "have they offended me" or are you going to grab a snickers because you want one?
Not every commercial is going o be funny to everyone or even make sense.

Actually there are a large group of people that do this exact thing. There is a site that lets you know how gay friendly a company is (this includes everything from restaurants, hotels, stores, business, etc). Some of the gay community chooses to bypass companies that are not gay friendly or anti-gay. One example is Cracker Barrel. You won't see alot of gays eating here. I do! and pay for it with my Rainbow MasterCard. I always get a kick out of it knowing my meal purchase from them is giving a credit to a gay cause. Also if you've ever seen any gay related magazine you would be astonished on how many companies put out advertisements to earn the gay dollar. You have to remember the purchase power that gay Americans have. It's huge. I still don't find the Snickers ad offensive but obviously Snickers feels that its worth pulling the ad to retain customers.

What's wrong with Cracker Barrel? Other than having crappy food and being the #1 redneck food chain in America. I kind of get a kick out of their name. Like how are they anti-gay? I guess not being gay I might have overlooked things and places that are anti-gay unless it's very obvious.

In 1991, in response to a customer complaint, Cracker Barrel fired several gay staffers. The Tennessee-based chain of 165 restaurants later stated that it wouldn't employ people "whose sexual preferences fail to demonstrate normal heterosexual values."

Impact

Vocal on-site protests have brought a lot of negative publicity, but some reports have it that more people are actually patronizing CB in support of its anti-gay policies. Although the policy is not illegal--gays and lesbians aren't protected from discrimination by any federal law--CB declined to comment.

That is so fu**ed up! I guess I overlooked it at the time because I was only 14. Have they since rectified the situation or are they still openly anti-gay?

To my knowledge they still stand by this policy. However, I do not keep up with this kind of stuff at great detail so I could be wrong.
