I think most everyone I know says soda. The only time I ever hear pop is when my cousins and aunt are visiting from Tennessee.

Depending on where I've lived I have called it by both terms. Most often I call everything a coke (even though I prefer Pepsi) or soda.

Waayyy back when I lived in New York I only remember it being called soda. When I got to Arizona they called it pop. Also paper bags were called sacks here. It's sort of a 50/50 blend now since so many people from all over the Country have moved here since I arrived in '66!

Cool soda

This is a great topic! I have lived in Illinois all of my life, and we always called it 'pop' here. Then I met my wife 7 years ago and she is from New York. All of her East Coast family (Long Island & Jersey) call it 'soda', so now I have been converted! I have been calling it 'soda' ever since!
