That would be a whole new topic, have you ever noticed, the folks that like to drive under the limit, prefer driving in the fast lane,or,just in front of you ,while tooling along ?

If people want to go slow in the right lane, that's fine by mine. But there are plenty of roads around town here where it is two lane, one each direction. If someone goes under the speed limit on those, then everybody gets bunched up behind them. Not to mention, around here, I think 80% of people have no idea of the concept, "Keep Right, Pass Left". There are signs on the highway, but they may as well be invisible. Around here, someone will cruise in the left lane doing 55 for hours. If you flash your brights, they do nothing. Then when you finally pass them on the right after you realize they're never going to move over, they look at you like you're crazy, even though they're the ones going exactly the speed limit on the left lane of the highway. There are so many left lane cruisers around here, it's not even funny, it's a fact of life. If only some of these people would go to Milwaukee or Chicago, they'd be in for a rude awakening. I'm not mad or anything, but this is how it is around here, it's take a little getting used to for someone from a bigger city.

Depends on the roads, the one main to my house is a 35/40, I am normally at least 10 over, highways are all 55's and most people go 70-80.

I have a problem with speeding, literally my anxiety kicks in if I am running even a minute late.

With the high gas prices I've found myself driving the speed limit or slightly under on the 4-lane roads going back and forth to work. On 2-lane I do the speed limit. If I'm on a long trip I'll drive 4-5 over the posted limit. One thing I've learned from my younger years is that the road is NOT the place to 'make up time'. With speeding tickets from $100 on up, I just can't see the value in trying to save 30 seconds or a minute or two, and that doesn't even begin to factor in the associated accident risk. If it's important that I be somewhere at say 1pm, I make it a point to be ABLE to leave a few minutes before I need. That way if something comes up (where DID I put those car keys?!?!) I have time to deal with it.

I find doing the speed limit saves tons on gas consumption.

Depends where I'm at, normally 5 to 10 over, onramps whatever I can get to before entering 100 or more, a street close to me 130 plus, no residences just 1 mile open and flat, of coarse the valentine one does come in handy at times.

You make it sound like fun I thought I was the only on ramp racer. We are going to have to take a spin through the mountains soon.

Let me take this LS back it doesn't get any better mileage than my SS.

I will agree with you here. On a longer trip, I will go 60-65 on the highway as opposed to 70. The difference is obvious, especially with the Avg. Economy on the DIC. I can get about 30-32 mpg doing 60-65, but once I go up to 70, I can only get 28-29 tops. The highway is one place where it actually pays to slow down. They say for every 5 mph over 60 you drive, its like paying $0.25 more per gallon. So that makes it worthwhile.
