This site has some useful information.... Please feel free to use it to protect yourself from dealers. (No I do not work for this company, just trying to help some HHR people before they go buy a car from the dealer)

Here's one I bet you never heard. I had an '85 fiero. (yeah, yeah don't even). At 6 months it started over-heating. At the same time I get a recall that an improperly torqued head bolt was causing blown head gaskets...
I take it in, that's it, I pick it up and don't even think about it, let alone look under the hood. A little while later I had ignition problems, 12 mo warranty over. I find that I have age old cracked plug wires, old plugs, and a cracked rotor cap.
Those bastiches did an ignition job for someone using my new parts, and replaced mine with the other guys old parts. Two rip-offs for the price of one. They are long out of business (wonder why). I always look at what they did and show me the old parts now.
In fact, since then, I mark parts under the hood with colored sharpies, put an X on them or something so I know if they've been replaced. Not just cars either, any factory service anything.

yea thats always been a prob with shady repairshops
find a good one, usually ones with "dirty, sweaty, hungry mexicans" and they will do a good job and will want you to keep coming back
