Back from todays visit with Rich.

Awesome day!!!!!!!!

All of his Brothers and Sisters got to see him today. Well, Josh wasn't there, so he didn't. But it really made EVERYONES day to get to visit with him. Especially Rich's..... And that is what counts the most.....

Heard tell that this coming week may be his last in the Hospital. He's being moved to a rehab type of place to further work on his physical recovery.

I'm reading that bit of news as he's definetly had the last of the graft surgeries.

Can I get a YEEEEEEE HAAWWWWW!!!! on that????????

Don't know any details as to what place that they're moving him to, or where it's located. Not to sure I should post that info anyways. Family and close friends will know where he is, others that may want to visit will need to go thru one of us first...

All I really know is that seeing the joy and happiness in his eyes was truly wonderfull. Linda was totally beside herself, way overjoyed at his happiness in seeing everyone.

Trully an awesome day!!!!

Linda and I know that there are alot of people that want to come see him. All we can say right now is, "All in good time"... Rich wants to see everyone also, but there are things that need attending to first, and his health is key issue first. You'll get your chance to see him, just be patient.

Oh,,, almost forgot..

No more tubes/IV's of any kind anymore. He's free of the machines......

today's email from Linda:

A lot has been happening these past couple days. Robby has been eating well and working hard to please everyone here.
He walked alone today down the hall with us by his side but not holding on to him!
He got to take a shower. (Having had only baths since getting here, he was happy.)
He is working hard in physical therapy, going up and down steps and such, but is still very wobbly.
He signed his name and even smiled for me as he left for his first appointment outside of his room.

We got to go downstairs and get our lunches today from the cafeteria!

There has been no word for sure yet as to when he is leaving but he has chosen to go to another local hospital for his inpatient rehab. It is about 15 minutes from here and they can bring him back here for his checkups with his Dr. here. They are very familiar with burn patients and their care. No one expects him to be there very long, perhaps 1 or 2 weeks, it depends on how well he can gain his strength back.

end

Can't think of much better news to come home to after doing a long 12 hour day at work. This Man is one happy camper.....

Be going up to visit again tomorrow. Really hoping for more awesome news...

Been working long hours, haven't been able to get on here to do updates.

BUT,,,,,

Rich is progressing very well. He is shaving his face hiself. Walking un-assisted all over the hospital. Taking showers instead of baths, and just loving that.... Doing extremely well with the OT and PT stuff they have him doing. Linda told me that he strongly objects to being wheeled anywhere in a wheelchair. "I can walk there"!!!

He now has a laptop curtisy of his youngest Brother, Christopher, and is getting online and chatting with friends. Doing a good job of typing from what his Mom tells me. The PT people say that the typing is very good for him, and will help get his left hand working better.

His Dr is concerned about the burns on his leg, and how they aren't healing as well as he expects in comparison to the rest of the burns. So it may come down to one final graft to cover that spot. It is a small area, so it shouldn't be anythinng to set his progress back any. Dr is waiting until after the Holiday to make his decision, giving the wound a bit more time to heal on it's own.

Dr has also said that if the wound heals better and/or a graft is done, Rich may get to come home instead of going to the Re-Hab Hospital. He can do the Re-Hab as an out-patient.

That right there has perked everyones spirits, especially Rich's. I believe it's what driving him harder right now in his doing of the things he's doing.
He is so ready to get out of that place............

My Daughter Becky works there at Domino's, she posted the flyer. Got them posted all over the area, and I'm still posting them around.

And yeah, we're hoping for a good turnout.

I have told Rich about all of the well wishes from them Members here, and he truly appreciates it. He sends back his, "Thanks". Makes me feel a bit better when I read them also.

I'll be heading over to see him in a couple hours. I'm really hoping that there's not to many more trips to be made.

Todays visit was another good one.

Now that Rich is no longer under the influence of meds, he talks to us more. He still gets pain meds, if,,,, he feels he needs them. He's not doing to many pain meds right now.

His legs are now un-bandaged, per Dr's orders. Dr is hoping being out in the air, may help them heal more, better, faster. Graft option is still there, but he's hoping not. Dr has got him in the OR rotation, but is really hoping it's not needed.

I could see the areas the Dr is worried about. My opinion is, maybe, maybe not. Just like the DR..
It's hard to tell really. The burns are healing, but they have a ways to go before they get to the point of recovery that the rest of the non-grafted burn areas are at. Maybe being uncovered is the right way to go now.

So,,, it looks like Wednesday before we have an answer on more surgery or not. Here's hoping for the not.

Also, have to wait for definete word on whether he get to come home, or goes to Re-Hab, depending on how his legs do.

Had to be a meany and bring the laptop home also. Rich is okay with that part. Christopher and I feel bad about doing that though.

Even though it's an outside chance, Rich may be able to come to the Benefit Dinner being held for him on the 19th of this month. That,,, will be an awesome thing to have happen.

Here's hoping for that to happen....

Hey Tom, has the benefit already happened? If not, could you post the date & time? Been to the Leigon many times for the Friday Fish Fry and would make every effort to make the benefit.

Ooops, reread the post. We should be able to make it if you would add the time.
