How many I must have rebuilt or repaired.
I know many won't care, but I have to show the size of it.
263 cubic inch per cylinder.
And I did do load tests on the generator also.
I worked in a Machine shop building, repairing, trouble shooting and designing machinery with a combination of Hydraulic, Pneumatic and Mechanical parts. I would fabricate custom parts from stock and manufacture parts for other companies. Biggest machine I worked on was a 25 Ton Beam Clicker in the shop, but had larger immobile machines in the fields we would work on for repair calls.
No, but I did go to Caterpillar corporate in Peoria for Marine PAR classes and while there went to the building that made high track bulldozers.
Walked under the largest one D11. Had a 3508, new name is the C32 Acert (Electronic version).
The video i posted is a 3516 (16 cylinders) 3508 has 8.
I've seen alot of the D-11 dozers in the coal strip mines that I've hauled from. I also like the 992 loaders. Now I haul from the deep mines. Not too many strip mines left...A sign of the times in Eastern Ohio...john

How deep are the holes now ?
Or is a strip mine one that looks like a bowl ?
Typical haul truck in a strip mine. They haul the coal to a stockpile where it's loaded on a semi truck, then we haul it to a wash plant or to a powerplant if the quality is good enough. Hopefully I'll get back to work next week and I'll bring my camera with me..... john
