I live in the country, and we see bears occasionally. They usually run away much faster than we do.

Some years ago, our stupid dog chased a cub and forced him up a tree. Needless to say, all we wanted to do was get the dog back on a leash and get the hell out of there while watching out for mommy bear.

We never saw her and we were glad we didn't.

We find them wondering out of the Eglin AFB reservation all the time. They're usually smaller than that and get so scared they climb a tall pine in residential neighborhoods. You can't quite shoot them with a tranquilizer up there then move them back into the woods. It's always a big deal on the local news!

I get them 10' out my front window. Hit the post nest to my front door on the house then opened the door and heard him crashing through the woods.

about 2 months ago we had a black bear cub running thru a residential neighborhood about 2-3 miles from my place
