You're right, I should back off. Sorry! If I want to learn I need to be less argumentative. No matter how Rambo or whatever I feel someones opinion is I should respect it buy not being so arrogant and sarcastic. No, I don't believe in left wing conspiracies and swear no allegiance to the Democratic or Republican parties BTW. I vote for whoever I feel is most deserving of the job whether they are Republican or Democrat. Every single time it comes down to choosing the lesser of two evils. I haven't found one single politician from either side that I can whole heartedly trust. And before you ask.......no I did not vote Hillary into office!

You are all so much better informed than I am. But I believed that going in there was right, I bought that, and I thought we would never go in and make THIS kind of a mess and then walk out. To do this again, it's like basically telling all those shell-shocked and injured soldiers, "Oops, this one was wrong too, and we're sorry you had to go through this", it seems so shabby and cruel.

So if that was all there was to it, I would say yes, I support staying with the war.

So the car bombs aren't slowing down, the Iraqi people aren't grateful to us, and the people we train to be the police are just killed off as fast as we can train them? Is that what it is? What IS the barometer of whether it is or isn't working - all we hear on the news is negative - the American tragedies. And yet, when I hear about the number of fatalities in the Civil War battles, Iraq pales in comparison, right?

I just wish the prez would publish a list of objectives and say "We'll keep you informed and at 45, 55, 65%, we'll bring home XX people". We average joes depend on the headlines to keep us informed and it doesn't happen. So does anyone know where we are? What has been accomplished? Anything? Without that, how could I have an opinion?

Okay, I'm naive - all I can do is support the majority vote. But coming home without a good outcome really goes against my grain.

My 2 cents - PM me instead of flaming me - educate me!

Everyone was on board was on board when things were going a-ok in the early stages...now that things have gotten tougher everyone is jumping ship and pointing fingers (not all Dems, there are some Republicans jumping on the bandwagon also) I just hate Monday morning quarterbacking..we should have done this, we should have done that...all easy to say now

Rememeber, we just hear the bad stuff on the news...never any success or good stories....I rely on the communication from my brothers and sisters who are in harms way and they paint a somewhat different picture than the talking heads forcefeeding their opinions and agendas on you..."Gee if Brian Williams says it, it has to be true"

I'd have to disagree with one part and I'll leave it that.

Not everyone WAS on board at the beginning. There were large protests here and overseas against invading Iraq.

Like me. I saw it as wrong for many reasons from the beginning but everyone was so swept up in and confused by the state of the country at the time that it seemed like almost everyone supported the war no matter which side of the fence they are on and that I was the odd ball for not falling into the whole false patriotism crowd. I'm used to that feeling though. I didn't need 9/11 to make me a true American; I have fully believed in the ideals and liberties this country was founded on my whole life. I considered myself a truer American than everyone waving a flag at the time because I feel like that every moment of my life. I didn't need a "unifying moment" to make me feel patriotic. I may disagree with a lot of our current governments decisions or most of the whole modern political system an yes I feel most of the American population are a bunch of mindless idiotic sheep following the heard but that doesn't make me any less of an American. Now it seems that a lot of those people have lost that gung-ho go USA attitude that they once had. It surprises me that the poll is 50/50 at this point, but like stated before maybe it's just because of the sample of people responding to the poll.
