Hey, I thought it was R&R when I heard it, Crimson and Clover, Tommy James and the Shondells. First album was Alice Cooper, 1st 8-track Angel!

First song I noticed that was Rock & Roll was 'Honky Tonk Woman' by the Rolling Bones.

 

Cream, White Room, Rubber Soul Beatles, The Jimi Hendtix Experience, and who can forget the Fish Cheer by Country Joe McDonald and the Fish.

Used to play "Purple People Eater" on the local Tavern Jukebox until my nickels ran out when I was about 8 years old. I read it has sold 100 million copies, and was #1 on the charts in 1958. Rubber Soul comes to mind. Went to Cream, Jimi H, Dylan, Jethro T, and many more concerts in my early days. Quite a few current and formerly active Rock and Rollers live in our little neck of the woods. Here is a (very) random sample off my bookshelf.
