Well, I have a backup car ...
We call it "Podzhopnik" ... Something like a stand under the ass for unforeseen circumstances, something inexpensive and unimportant.
In my case, this is Nissan March 2000, right-hand drive from Japan market. I use it sometimes when the Hippo is under repair or when it is a pity to torment him.
In late 2016, we picked up a new 2017 KIA Sportage as a 3rd vehicle (in black of course). A few months later our 2006 HHR died a slow and ugly death with one thing failing after another, and I could not keep up to the repairs. So back to the KIA dealer and traded it in on a
new 2017 Sportage (also in black) as we were so happy with the first one. So far they have both been damned awesome - they are the first vehicles that I have ever bought that had absolutely no issues/problems at all from new (except for my Goldwing). The first Sportage has over 50,000 miles already and has been awesome.
The only problem so far is with the dealer in that they have problems telling one from the other when we take them in for service (LOL). And also I spend most of my life washing them. :)
2011 Chevrolet HHR 1LT RNB SAX 2012 BMW 328i BRAK PTS 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE 4WD CEE ZEE
The HHR & BMW alternate commuting duties to my job as well as trips to band gigs, although the BMW is also my weekend driver for dinner out, etc. The GMC is used for general truck duties, leaving at the park and ride when not driving to work, & hauling the grandkids around.
I replaced my 2010 SS with a 2019 Mazda CX 5, Signature trim (with the 2.5 L turbo engine). It's been three months and I love it. It's quick, quiet, handles well and has excellent fit and finish.
Wow, Very nice alternatives posted above & mentioned models. This thread has gotten a much bigger response that I initially anticipated. Very Cool.

I still have my 08 Panel 2LT (since Aug 2009), & wife still has her 08 Dodge Avenger SXT, & of course our Harleys, 1973 (former)
Police Servi-Car (Whitey), 1994 Fat Boy (Blacky) & 1997 Road King (Ruby). Here's some random pics.
1973 Harley Police Servi-Car (only 425 made this final year) # 27. Documented by H-D in Milwaukee.
Started out as 45" Flatty, but Bored & Stroked & etc out to 59" & re-geared for today's roads.
In Good Company "Whitey", "Flashback" & " Pantasy"
Blacky, 1994 FLSTF
Blacky was 80" stock, now is 98" Click twice on HHR Panel 2LT image to Enlarge pic, & scroll around it.
My 2008 HHR Panel 2LT (1 of only 266) with barely more than 33K miles on it.
Wife's 08 Dodge Avenger SXT
This is the style 2017 GMC Terrian Denali (model, year & type) which I'm researching, for possibly my next, or an additional ride.

Don't have photos but my wife's car right now, it's the replacement for the HHR, is a 2016 Buick Encore. It's a really nice vehicle for it's size, great ride and probably the most comfortable seats we've ever had. But I decided to keep the HHR and it's my work car now. Also have a 2008 GMC Sierra that's not driven as much anymore. It's used more for towing our travel trailer than anything else.
