I came across some photos of my Truck in my files. I traded my 2001 Ford Ranger XLT with 108k miles in for my 2010 Chevy HHR LT back in October of 2015. This was my 1st vehicle and I worked on it til I was 19. I do miss it as those Rangers sure were one heck of a Truck. The reason was mainly because my catalytic converters were starting to go bad and I wasn't interested in putting the $800-$1200 fix into a truck with a rusted frame (Previous owner had it sitting on his farm).
1st picture was the most updated. The ones after it will be before and afters. It was a rainy day so the color came out dull. The Paint is called Silver Frost Metallic

I put on Aftermarket Customized Rims, Tonneau Cover, Custom Interior parts, Aftermarket Running Boards, Restored Fender Flares and Grille, Self Applied Bedliner, New set of 4 General Grabber tires.

 

but the HHR is so much more fun!

 

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my HHR. but most car guys usually have some sort of attachment to their 1st car. It was so easy to load my kayaks too! In the end, my HHR is more reliable. I save $75 a month on gas and it handles alot better in the rain and snow. Plus you can fit more people!

 

The Ranger's, S-10's, S-15's, B-2000's, and the other compact pickup trucks were very useful and economical. But compare a new Colorado to a ten year old Silverado and what is considering "compact" these days, was "full size" not that long ago.

Ages ago I had a 1973 Jeep J-20 pickup, with a 360 V-8 and the long bed, and the last time I saw one it was a case of "they weren't that small were they?".

 

Ooooooo love the Browning decals. Gotta love a Browning!!!! and am kinda liking Rangers as well. I do enjoy driving my brothers 4.0L Ranger.

 

They got it back on the road, that's good, I'd been wondering about its status.

Flawed though they might be, head gaskets and head warping especially are a chronic failing, those 4.0's are punchy.

The compact ones seem to be more popular in my area. Oh nice. thats what I dont like about these new trucks. They keep making them bigger. Bigger is not always better.

 

Thanks for the comment Whopper. They were originally Fox Racing decals but I put the browning on about 6 months after. Yes the 4.0L was what I probably got a kick out of the most. It had a V6 engine so going to the HHR was a bit of a downsize but hey you can't always get what you want.

 

Fortunately Ford didn't bother to build them, thank Mazda.

 

I miss my old truck , but not the 34 gallon fuel tank and 93 octane required fuel!
