I usually wash my HHR every weekend but, since there is so much pollen in the air there is no point now. I washed it last Sunday and it was yellow by Monday morning. COuld've killed whoever decided to write "dirty" in the pollen dust on my hood.

My wife thinks I am nuts also, wash it at least once a week and give it a good drying with a microfiber towel so no spots. I also clean under hood and she just shakes her head. I clean my riding lawnmower just as well and she really gets a kick out of that. Both of my kids have commented how much more anal I am with the HHR but I just want it looking great. Had a carload of women pass me the other day on the interstate and they kept pointing at the car and staring, and then they would let me pass and then would pass again. Happened for about 7 miles, I think they really liked the car I am sure they were not staring at me LOL!

I guess some women just don't understand.

And it is definately NOT a guy thing. I am just as fenatical about my baby, too. Sometimes my hubby washes it for me, but not usually. I will get up at 6:30 in the morning and wash the car on a Saturday before the paint gets warm...

So, you guys are not nuts. IMO it is a perfectly normal reaction to a car you really like and want to keep nice for a long time.

There is nothing wrong with taking care of the car.
