Xmas Cars
I returned from a 2,500 mile (round trip) run from NY State to Cocoa Beach, Fl with the family. We traveled in 2 cars (my '08 HHR and my son's '09 Cobalt) with 3 passengers in mine and 2 in my son's. Both were loaded down with luggage. The HHR has the GM Turbo Upgrade that was properly installed (as per GM proceedure & tooling) by a competant dealer using the heat/shrink/crimp connectors. (I felt that this site needed a success story related to the kit). We didn't have a stitch of trouble with the HHR, but the Cobalt managed to break a wheel stud in Maryland. $60 and about an hour of time got it on the road again. The Cobalt has the GM CAI kit, lowering springs, TTR sway bar and 17" Oz wheels. Not sure how the Cobalt fared with mpg, but my HHR averaged about 28 mpg overall including 65-75mph hwy, town driving around Cocoa Beach, insane bumper to bumper traffic in Wash DC as well as other B2B traffic due to a couple of accidents in other states. The Cobalt always does better, but I don't know by how much on this trip, because I forgot to ask.
The pics were taken on Christmas Day at a Cocoa Beach park. We left for a New Year's Cruise to the Western Caribbean the day after these were taken. Note the reindeer kits on both of these Delta vehicles. We got a couple of laughs from others as well as 1 thumbs-up from a surfer.
We found out that our home town in NY had undergone a blizzard the day after we boarded the ship for the islands.
