Are you a car nut?
Re Gassers
I found this photo, and you can see the wheels really well. I can see that they don't match, and it looks like the back is reallllllly thick too. Can someone tell me more about this - is this a dragster? Do they only race going straight? Is this one of those cars you can't even turn? It doesn't look like it. Any you tube vids you can refer me to of these things in action?

That's another GASSER, 1/4 mile straight line racer.. The Fat Slicks on back are for best traction. The skinny front "spool-style" (anglia) rims & tires are for least wind resistance at racing. Also note the baby wheels behind the slicks, those are "wheelie bar wheels" to control how high the front end goes upon launching !!! Which in turn transfers more weight to the rear tires increasing traction as well... Sadly, today's racing is a whole different game. I love the Nostalgia Drags
Yes this Gasser can turn, but not too safely at any higher speeds IMO..
Sorry can't help w/any links to live action...I'm sure someone here can...

COOL CRUISE 2007 - La Verne, CA
I attended this show last weekend. As a relative newbie hooked on restorations, it was truly amazing! People were on the streets with their rides, and they chatted freely all about them. At 200+ photos, you can guess that I was awestruck at the restored vehicles.
If you have the time, I would appreciate knowing about which cars I didn't identify right and also if you can identify some of the ones I left blank... In the titles they are numbered. I plan to reorg it and repair the damage soon. It's easy with this web album freeware.

Great cars everyone!! That '37 Chevy sure brought back memories for me. Had a '37 Chevy street rod a few years ago with a small block chevy. I've also had a '71 Demon, '73 Duster (both with 340's) '73 Mustang Mach I, '79 Trans Am, '85 & '87 Mustang GT's and a '96 Corvette Collectors Edition and quite a few other cars. Back when I was a kid and all my friends were reading comic books, I had my Mom buy me Hot Rod magazines, so yeah, I'm a car nut too!!
Now it's time to have fun with my 5 day old HHR!!

OLDSCHOOLFREAK: SUPER STOCK was big when I was in high school and I was oblivious to it - all it was was really LOUD commercials interrupting my WLS in Chicago radio station rocknroll. They would go on and on about funny cars and name all these names in loud fast yelling and then say, "BE THERE!!! BE THERE!!!" I never even knew what they were saying. Nowadays, I'd go watch those great old cars tearing themselves up for the crowd and VERY little money.
How many cars have you restored? Do you work on engines and all that stuff too? But you know what I liked - I liked the SOUND of the big engines!

The old man went to Union Grove today, he ran 9.61 at 136mph. The oil was milky when he checked it last night so we changed it and made some passes to check if we had a gasket blown. No more water in the oil after the runs so we arent sure where it came from. I got my Vette out today, and had a blast with it. Then jumped in the HHR and took the kiddies to Dairy Queen for some Ice cream. What a day
