14,000 miles per quart

I changed the oil in my 2007 HHR with a 2.4 at 173,000 miles using Mobil1 5w-30, and took a road trip to St. Louis and then to Astoria, Oregon, from Southern California. Today I changed the oil again at 180,300, but checked the oil level first. It was down 1/2 quart after 7,300 miles, which comes out to over 14,000 miles to a quart.
I didn't think that it was possible for any engine to go that long without using much oil, and only believe this because it's my car and I saw it for myself. I bought the car with 41,000 miles and always used Mobil1 oil. A compression check last year showed an even 170 PSI on all 4. The engine must have been assembled in the middle of the week!
The engine is original, so is the fuel pump and water pump. I keep the car well maintained.
