Are you sure your rotors are original? We bought or 06 new and our original rotors warped and were relaced by the dealer by the time we had 15K miles. I later replaced those myself with aftermarket rotors before we reached 30K miles because they also warped. At a little over 60K now, the warpage hasn't returned.

I am not 100% on the rotors. I got it with 34k miles on it. I was guessing since the corrosion is so bad on the inside of the rotors. Not your typical rust. It is raised and I can pick large chips off with my fingers and the pads are less than 1mm from the wear indicator. After a few hard stops they will shudder pretty good but they always recover and brake smoothly.

@ db/sb:

Off subject, but I notice the '64 Grand Prix project. A good friend of mine has a '62 that is just about finished..lol and he also has an HHR. Do you have any pics you can show of your project so far?

This is from about a year ago. I runs and drives well, needs some cosmetic work here and there. We've touched it up and buffed it out since this picture and it actually looks prety good. Just took it to a local but somewhat small scale car show a couple of weeks ago.

Sweet thanks. I have been reading High Performance Pontiac magazine latley... older cars are really starting to grow on my ...Though I also like the newer GTO. My friend has an '05 as well and put in a suspension, gears and axles otherwise stock. The thing we fwd owners miss out on is that amazing traction of the line. Fun car.

06, 73K miles, replaced front brakes, new battery. Coolant flush coming this spring (system tested good in the fall).

Other than oil changes and tires, that's it. Although I think I have a bushing in the left front that will need attention this sping also.

One strut was replaced before I bought mine (with 42K miles).
Since I've owned it (now at 82K miles):
A/C growl (under warranty)
Fortunately, all maintenance items--
-oil per OLM, (or around 20-15%)
-front rotors and brakes
-tires
-air filter

I'm planning on changing the anti-freeze today.

and in the spring (around 90-95K, looking at probably doing
-battery
-spark plugs
-struts and shocks

Overall, I've been very happy with my HHR.

06 coming up on 130k. I have all of the service records from the origional owner and know the dealer that the work was performed at.

-tstat early on, replaced under warranty
-on it's 3rd set of tires
-2nd set of rotors(!) and pads, rear drums/shoes still from factory
-rear shocks
-front struts
-plugs @ 100k
-cam sensor
-front passenger hub, although that was due to wifey curb job
-sounding like I need typical front suspesion/clunk fixer parts

Other than that, basic maintenance and no problems. Been a great car for the 40k I've put on it.
