Cool advice'help Changing Antifreeze??

I would like to change the antifreeze and i already saw the pet**** plug, but I certainly couldn't take it of, Is it a plug or Do I have to Turn it counterclockwise? I tried both but it is very difficult to apply force by hand because that piece is very difficult to reach by hand, any advice there?

other question is where is located the hose to drain completely the antifreeze?

Thanks for your support,

Jesus

The drain petclock unscrews counterclockwise - be careful with it though, as it is plastic and you can break the "handle" if it has been manhandled. It is easier to get at from underneath the car. If it is stuck you can help it gently with a pair of pliers placed as close the base of the handle as you can get it.

There is no "hose" to completely drain the antifreeze. Just open the drain petclock, and remove the radiator cap - some say to remove the thermostat, but I didn't bother. I just drained out what I could, refilled with water and ran it for a while, then drained it again (repeated a couple of times to flush out the old fluid).

Warning, do NOT run the engine with the antifreeze drained - that can damage the water pump if the seals run dry.

There is a special tool made for the purpose. New draimclocks are readily available at parts stores, because pliers tend to break them.

I would suggest removing the lower rad hose, & leave the drain plug alone..

But ur gonna need a big ole drain pan.

On my HHRs the hose clamp was more of a pain (literally) to get to than the drain.

It gave me a good excuse to replace that OE clamp with a good worm drive one. Now it would be easy...
