Air Filter

besides Fram, WIC , Purolater, and K&N
what other brands of air filters are there?

i want a good filter thats not liek $12 , but didnt really want to pay $48 for one that goes in the factory air box that wont improve performance or anything that much.
Who makes a good high flow filter that is oil free ? ?

Just going to throw an opinion out... everybody has one you know.

Why spend $12+ every 10-12K miles when you could spend the $36-$46 for a K&N lifetime filter you never have to replace?

The cleaner spray and recharge oil will cost you around $20 and you can get a good 3 or 4+ uses with the cleaner and at least 2 or 3 uses with the recharging oil depending on how generous you are with both. I usually go 12-15K before cleaning mine with no issues. I've been using K&N filters for many miles... many years.

Granted, if you don't plan on keeping the vehicle for a while... just buy NAPA Golds.

Again... just my $0.02

For those people that really do not understand..... the GM OEM/Delco will easily go 50,000 miles unles you're driving through sandstorms in the Middle East.

If anyone in the Phx. area wants a new in box OEM/Delco air filter and another with about 5,000 miles on it, PM me....THEY ARE FREE.

Oh, I also have the OEM air cleaner system, Also FREE.

You know it took me a year onmy old one to figure out the right way to change the cabin filter. Scraping up my knuckles and fooling with the glove box trying to get the old one out and the new one in.

One day i was trying to find a wayto just take it off and said "whats this?" Pushed in the stops and the entire glove box swung down and all the contents all over the floor---but i was not upset.

That's one of those... "So that's how that works" moments.

open glove box door, push in tabs on each side of door and lower completley, there are 3 tabs that have to be released, lower access door and then you pull the filter out. I just did mine friday and put in a factory replacement. I originally bought an stp filter from autozone but it is a little wider and was difficult to slide back in. It kept bunching up. The sides are not as stiff and it is very flimsy so I got a factory repllacement. It fits perfect, the edges are stiffer allowing you to push it in easier with out bunching up.
