Apparently the "Yellow Top" Optima D-35 will work, check with you local auto parts stores on pricing.

But despite their claims, and the claims of folks using them, Optima batteries are no better or worse than a new OEM Delco or one of the HHR specific batteries offered through Autozone, Advance, O' Reilly's, Napa, and now Sears DieHard.

I know of no oil filter relocation kits for the Ecotec engines due to their replaceable element filter design.

And if you're careful, changing the oil filter element on an Ecotec is easy, clean, and quick to do.

I have a blue top optima battery in my 08. It's been in the car for about 5 years now.

They are pricey.

I went with the blue top because it's a deep cycle battery.

I thought it would be better for my use of lights and sirens.

I have found now that it don't seem to make a difference.

My 07 still has the factory battery and it also has lights and sirens with out having any issues.

The battery I removed from the 08 is still working well in my boat.

I myself won't spend that much for a battery again.

They do make an adaptor to install a remote filter or it could be used to add a cooler. http://store.custombuiltmotors.com/e...r-adapter.html
I don't see the need to relocate the filter I like being able to change the filter without crawling under the car.

Yikes $149.00 just for the adapter, then the hoses and a remote filter mount another $70.00
Plus an oil filter another $10.00 . Plus the mess of the oil changes!
I'll stick to the good old factory set up!

Hmmm...I just new as soon as I put my foot in the trap marked "No Concrete Statements", somebody would prove me wrong, great find Oldblue.

But like you said, I'll stick with the OEM set-up thanks.

I wonder how this would affect the VVT, if at all.....since the VVT is dependent on oil pressure and viscosity.

In theory it shouldn't, since oil pressure is generated within the block as the output of the oil pump is restricted by various orifices, bearing clearances, and oil gallery passages. Oil pumps supply volume and circulation, not oil pressure.

It's like putting your finger over the end of a garden hose, the more you restrict the flow, the higher the water pressure and velocity becomes.

And it wouldn't affect viscosity at all, a 5W-30 oil stays a 5W-30 oil no matter how long the run to and from the filter is.

Although I've seen some remote filter kits recommended a lighter oil in cold weather months due to the added volume of oil in the system, and the longer path to the filter causing possible problems with oil starvation during the warm up phase.

That in itself would keep me from deviating from the OEM system, unless the engine is being built up for competition, then a remote filter or an Oberg filter would help with additional oil capacity. And an Oberg filter, being easily disassembled, allows you to check for bearing metal and particulates so you can "catch" a failure either before it happens...or at least mitigate the damage.

I also have a blue top and it works just fine. I also bought one for my car last year. Good battery indeed.

I'm still using the OE AC-Delco Battery, next month it will be at least 8 years old.
I like the 2 screw caps on top, so I can inspect the plates condition. Never had to add any distilled water, but good to know I could, should I have to.
& knowing it is properly vented should a situation arise, I won't be gassing myself.

Oil Filter: If you loosen oil fill cap first, then drain oil pan. Then remove oil filter cartridge, I find oil is almost all out, so as I remove filter I just put a paper towel under it coming out.

No muss- no fuss..
