Welcome to the site. I have don't think you can add a dip stick to check the trans. fluid but there is a port to check the level of the fluid.

Thanks. I know that is the way to check the oil. But I was looking for a way that you didn't have to jack it up all the way around. I was wondering if anyone had tried a universal dipstick like you can get for street rods.

Welcome to the site woodchuckd, always glad to have more new blood. I think that adding a universal dipstick would just add a universe of problems, the biggest of which would be ascertaining the proper fluid level. I know that the lack of an easy way to check the fluid is galling, but unless you're seeing a puddle under your HHR or other obvious signs of leakage, its safe to assume the level is fine. Transmissions these days are pretty much treated as a sealed assembly until a service interval is reached, hence the lack of dipsticks. So unless you're have a leak or diminished performance, just put it out of your mind until you hit a service interval.

The lack of a dipstick bothered me at first but then I realized I have never added fluid in between services anyway.

The other concern might be. What is the universal stick gonna get ground up by..
Then you have headaches..

It's a mental adjustment of 'no stick'...
