If you don't want to install it yourself I think Autozone and batteries plus will install for free.

And don’t let the positive and the negative cable touch or the power cable to touch the body of the HHR .

The radio could get toasted as the RAP shorted it out in Oldblue. That killed the radio.

Doc- That sure doesn't instill confidence in Napa batteries.. Bummer

I'll speak up if this one craps out sooner than it oughta.
Frugal- I liked the warranty as well. & agree Don always has good advice. Plus I put one in the wifes Mopar about 6 years ago. Still doing good.

Lethal Tendencies- That's a good point. some don't want to mess with the deal.

Blue- So true. Gotta be very careful.

When I swap batteries here, since I don't have a traditional 'memory saver', I just use my big (dumb) battery charger & set it to steady 2 amps & hook to the under hood remote battery hook ups.
That 2 amps is enough to keep all my pre-sets the same.

The other day I noticed the local Menard’s had a compatible ACDelco for $105 in stock. It came with no vent tube but has vent holes on both ends, so one would need to be plugged. They don’t install.

I’ve only bought one HHR battery and it was a Duracell, came with a new vent tube and el. Installation was free and worth every penny. I had to explain the vent tube. Trouble-free once I corrected the poorly connected terminals.

A 9 volt battery is enough to hold memory (that's all a memory saver is). All of the computers are capable of operating at above 8.5 Volts., sensors need enough so the computer can provide 5 volts.

When swapping out a battery, I don't think you lose presets, just the time/date.

The radio RAP is controlled by the BCM on the CANbus. The RAP relay only keeps the windows energized.
Depends on how long the battery is out if the presets default.

I believe the vent holes are both plugged, when you push the vent tube elbow fitting in it opens that particular vent.

Jump got her running, but now seems as good a time as any to change the battery out. Haven't bought one in a long time. Have access to most of the usual suspects in the area. Advanced Auto, Autozone, NAPA, possibly Interstate, and of course WalMart. Perfer not to set foot in Pep Boys.
Any of them definitely to stay away from? Any killer deals that aren't obvious in a quick search? Out of curiosity, anyone know who's making batteries for all these house brands?

PS: I'm pretty impressed at the way the charging management can get ten years out of a battery like this. :-)
I too have had to replace the battery. I usually go to autozone or Sears for the battery. Sears is now a memory. I ended going to advance, ordered it online and had my wife take the hhr up to have them put the battery in. She said it took them 20 minutes to figure out where the battery was. Lol.
The reason I used advance, if you look around online you fin . Upon codes for advance anywhere from 25 up to 40% off. You can buy online with code, drive to store and pick up, saving some along the way. And if you played your cards right pick up online cash for future purchases.

Mine is from Advance as well. No issues, & one in wifes Mopar is over 6 yrs old & still testing fine.
