I would say no. Heat is the biggest culprit for batteries. With the battery in the lower back end you should have no problem. Checking it with a meter is the best bet.

I have over 62,000 miles on mine. Accidently drained it once and had to jump start it. That was around 36,000 miles and it is still going strong.

My 99 Ranger still has the original battery. Turns the engine over just fine.

Cool

My 2006 HHR I have a little over 82,000 with the same battery and with no problems yet! By the sounds of it I better think about replacing it soon.

My '06 with 50k may be needing one when I get it out from storage. Not really wanting to hold a charge this year...

The worst sulfated battery can be created by just leaving a battery unattended for a long period of time. A battery is like a bucket with a tiny hole. Electricity leaks little by little through what is called "natural discharge". It may take some time to drain a battery completely (depending on vehicle), and sulfation created in this process is quite possibly the worst kind.

The Battery Tender is a battery's' best defense to a much longer life.

My '06 has 76+K miles still on the original battery. I keep thinking that it will need replacing sometime. After five years (March '06 purchased), I'm not sure how long batteries last in Florida.

The battery on my 06 went out around 58,000 but I also let the car sit for up to 4 or 5 months at a time during the spring thru fall when the bike is my transportation.
