LOL - yeah it might have been discussed a time or two.

I'm happy with my Monroe quick struts - quick and easy job to replace with them. Car rides real nice now.

Ok, your title says THE BEST STRUTS.....

IMO, there is a German brand that are built like a tank, provide superb handling, extensive testing and not reverse engineered (or copy catted). However the name escapes me right now. But I remember tests being conducted on several different model/makes of vehicles and the participants were very impressed with the results......bar none.

Did I mention they are very expensive? Your title doesn't mention cost, although you mumbled something about, "good prices" elsewhere.

However, Jay mentioned the SS struts (I believe, his post is errored) and I personally would support those, since I have them. Made is USA (last I looked).

Good luck on whatever you do.

Snoopy you thinking of Sachs or Bilsteins? I run KYB's on my rides both the HHR and the wife's GT both sets over 4 years now no leaks no bouncy ride not rusted out and almost 110,000 miles on both sets, money well spent!

Nope not either of those.....they are second rate compared to the ones I can't remember the name.

KYB's are made well, probably better than anything available in the "B" rated shocks. But they still have the same spring rate as the F3.....and maybe that is what the op is looking for.

When I worked for the THE GENERAL, I had a contact at KYB and was able to acquire hand developed and re-engineered shocks for my trick El Camino. They "redid" them 3 times before I was satisfied. The shocks were free but the rest of the suspension cost me about $1600, not counting wheels and tires. Car handled like a Porsche. Needless to say, I was very happy with the KYB. That was 20+ years ago. Much different technology and theory now.

Bilstein is another story and a step above others mentioned here.

EDIT: Disregard my bluster. getting like some of the other old timers on here. Can't answer a question without reliving an old irrelevant memory

I replaced mine with Monroe's. Though there are probably better ones out there for more $$'s, but how good do they need to be for a low end vehicle. The Monroe's are more solid then the OEM's ever were and they will likely last longer than the 42000 miles I got out of the OEM's. I replaced both the struts and the rear shocks (also leaking) at the same time, so the ride and handling improvement was very noticeable.
