Paintless Dent Repair, is a process to pop out the dents

Here are some companies in Ottawa that perform the service.

I guess Paintless Dent Repair means something totally different up North.

Most of the companies list dent repair and small area painting is available, largely this HHR needs the dent removed and then the owner can paint the quarter panel and the front fender himself.
Perhaps FMG , I should have said , dent repair. But the common term is PDR . Sorry for the confusion.

I’m not saying it will be perfect, but it is possible and better then cutting and welding in a new panel.

thanks for the video, Oldblue
I saw such procedures a couple of times and even corrected the dent on my mother's Mazda in a similar way (although, for lack of a special tool, I used dry raspberry stalks and a plunger to clean the sewers).
This is a really powerful way and saves a lot of money. But not everything is so rosy in the case of HHR ...
In the video I see Hyundai and Corolla, and you know that the body iron on them is thin, like foil on a chocolate bar. If you inadvertently press with your finger, a dent is provided. Who does not believe, approach Hyundai on the street and press your finger anywhere.
In addition, in the video, rather wide planes were straightened along the stiffeners, it is much easier, the stiffeners do not allow the metal to spring and serve as clamps.
I don’t mean to say that this cannot be done with HHR. Of course you can, but:
1. The thickness of the metal is at least twice as thick, and maybe four times. I have saved a piece of my front fender as a paint sample, which can be used to plan wood chips for kindling.
2. All the same, the place of deformation is rather tortuous. And from the inside you can only approach through the service opening for replacing bulbs. These plastic things may not be enough, you need a spotter, and this is a completely different job and different money.
Again, I confirm the possibility of correcting these unpleasant deformations on the rear wing. But it won't be as easy and fun as the video shows.

You didn’t consider removing the stop and backup lights for access to that dented area?

I found a new 1/4 , listed at $1,300.00 plus shipping, plus body shop and paint! Way to much money!
Plus the last time I bought new body panels there were still dents to deal with before installing.

well, yes, thought ..
it is possible and even necessary to remove the lights (as well as the bumper and interior trims, I would even remove the gate so as not to bump into it), but how does this help to press from the inside?
I believe the repairer will act from the outside with a welding spotter, from the inside, he will squeeze out what he can get to. He will spend more time than he would have spent repairing an easier place. But as a result, it will straighten everything.
The main thing is to surrender to the master who will not abuse the grinder and putty.
