Changing a light bulb
That's what I have always called them. They can be purchased from any of the major tool companies (expensive) such as Snap-On, Mac Tools etc...or any local parts store such as O'reilly or Napa and I believe Harbor Frieght has them. I have a really old one from the 70s (wooden handled) that I use to pop large weeds out of the yard too.
One of these or something similar will make the removal of the clips much easier. Most parts stores or ebay have them.

Ya, needle nose tend to rip the crap out of the plugs........lone of my foglights crapped out a few days ago guess I'll be looking for that tack puller...silverstars..look great but don't last for crap

Yes it will work. The fasteners are called Chrismas Tree fasteners, given their shape viewed upside down. I bought that tool at AutoZone for $5, and had to ask because it was on a floorstand instead of the tool section. Its a commonplace tool that no parts store should be without.
