I Wrapped mine with "flex Duct" tape, The silver kind made for flexible HVAC ducts, not Duck Tape. The old 2008 needed it after an engine cleaning, the 2011 got it preemptively.

I just checked the filter on my newish 2011 HHR, the front passenger side is BOLTED down with an Allen head bolt! You can only get 1/8 of a turn and the sharp edges of the housing played havoc with the back of my hand. The bolt is no longer there. The housing now has Duck Tape on the sharp edges, so I can remove the pressure cap bloodlessly.

The local Chevy dealer wanted $5 each for the nuts that hold the exhaust pipe to the cat pipe. Talk about gold hardware! NAPA was 2 for $.92 including tax.

Really?!

This air box is such pita to get off, I couldn't get the passenger side front attachment off the grommet, so had to remove the bracket from the block itself, and of course couldn't find my ratchet until after I had removed it with an adjustable wrench. Oh well, I'd say the toughest part was figuring the darn thing out. Once you know what to do, it's fairly easy. Look for a black bracket attached to the block with 13 mm bolts, then you have to worm it through the wiring. I did the air filter on my girlfriend's pt loser yesterday, and it took a total of three minutes. I guess that's what we get for owning an American car made in Mexico with a German engine. Lol

Kirby guy-

Next time add a little hi-temp grease to the grommets & the cover will come off very easily...

It is over-engineered, but easy once ya do it..

THANK YOU FOR THE INFO.
we are new owners of a 2011 LT and so far really like it. I will check the filter element out. Only 35,000 miles so probably not needed to replace will find out.

If you go to the trouble to check it, save yourself the hassle and just replace it while you're in there.
