drivers inside door panel replacement

drivers inside door panel replacement

I changed out my broken drivers inside door handle with the dorman part and it went well until I tried to put the panel back on. I was able to get all the fasteners back in except one. At the top back end of the panel theres a plastic open end bracket that is supposed to slide under a plastic grommet that sticks out. Theres a piece of foam molded to the inside of the panel that keeps me from being able to get the bracket close enough to slide the panel bracket under it. Is there a trick to it? I stopped trying before I got too frustrated and broke something. Thanks

It is not supposed to be a open end bracket, it is supposed to be a pin. Pull that out of the door and then slide it in the plastic trim first. It will then look like the rest of the door pins and pop right in.
