I just got off the phone with my local dealership and they want 110.00 for the key fob and 65.00 to program it to my car. I am required to make an appointment for the programing and spend the time taking the car in.

I hope this product works.

Any good sized lock shop usually has them and can program them. Same with the keys. I bought a spare remote and key programmed for $52 from the shop we use but we do a lot of business with them. They also do the work for the local Ford dealer who then triples the price to the customer.

Just tried the Dorman (13736) (< $53 @ RockAuto) module with the Dorman remote, OEM remote (only one that came with the car) and a KeylessOption remote ($10.95) from Amazon. I reprogrammed all of the remotes on my 2011 HHR (2LT, auto, remote start, 2.4l) without any problems or issues.
All functions worked: lock, unlock, alarm, remote start and I now have a spare remote for that just in case moment.

So, now I think the question is answered. The module does work with other remotes.

But, does it have a limited number of program events?

Both my HHRs were missing the fobs. Replaced them both with the autozone units.

It doesn't state there is a limitation anywhere in the paperwork. But I have read other Dorman modules have said they only have three (3) sessions before it doesn't work anymore. The earlier modules also received mixed reviews. They seemed to work after exchanging it at the retailer for another module (using the same model module).

How or where did you have the fobs programmed?

AutoZone sells Dorman, sometimes repackaged.

Didn't check Autozone & should have I see. I also bought from "Keyless option" & then paid the $39.99 from dealer to program; sure would have liked to have been able to program my own & perhaps a spare for that same price. Again, I had only checked out Advanced Auto which didn't have the programmer. Fob yes, programmer, no.

You probably should have tried eBay. They have them under several brand names, similar part numbers.

NAPA carries the NOE line that includes most Dorman parts, one of which is Part #NOE 7306953 the 3 button model.

This from the Advance website: http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/d...archTerm=13737
