header cleaning
header cleaning
is it worth cleaning out the header with about 60-70,000kms or 40,000miles on it before putting in on my car? i bought one from a cobalt and is sitting in my garage at the moment, wondering if i should take it in and get it cleaned before putting it on or would it be a waste?
I'd have it cleaned and jet coated...

What is it made of? If it is made of stainless steel, you need to use a stainless steel wire brush, as a regular one will leave bits of metal on it which will rust (same with steel wool).
How dirty is it? If it is just slightly dirty, a Scotch pad might be enough with some metal polish to get rid of the grime. If really dirty/nasty/rusty take it to a fabrication/restoration shop where they can sand blast it, or with is it ground hazelnuts they sometimes use? Then you need to paint it with a good high temp paint (and no, not BBQ paint) if it isn't stainless. Well, that is what I would do.
Or if you want to save yourself a lot of agravation, just box it up, throw it on a bus and send it to me, and I will make good use of it!
