HHR Spark Plug Replacement

Hi,
Has anyone had experience replacing spark plugs on 100,000 mile HHR.
If so did you have problem removing the spark plugs?
Do you think the engine plant initially used anti seize grease on the spark
plug threads?

Lots of folks have had trouble. No anti-seize.

Some sort of penetrating oil sitting for a few hours would probably help; WD40 &etc.

I personally had no problem.

Give the SEARCH box a try, it may surprise you!

Thank You for the reply.
How many miles were on your HHR when you replaced spark plugs?

PS: Removed my email address. You are right.

An old GM technician's trick is to sparingly squirt some PB Blaster around the plugs, then take a drive, and park it until the engine is cold.

The heat cycle draws the PB Blaster into the threads through capillary action which will help a stubborn plug/plugs come out without stripping the threads from the head.

Also, make sure the engine is cooled down, changing plugs on a hot aluminum cylinder head will invite disaster, the last thing you want to do is ruin the threads.

I use the PB Blaster trick and when the engine is cold, un screw the plugs a 1/2 turn then screw back in a 1/4 turn just enough pressure to break them loose, and then unscrew them, gentley Bentley, you don't want to get forceful and strip the treads out of the head.

Thanks George, sometimes I forget that things I've been using for 30+ years, may be unknown or new to folks.

Added a link to the manufacturer in your post.

Thanks Mike.

After my "copyright infringement" episode a while back( remember when all of my pictures got deleted) , I try to be mindful of what I post up.
I didn't want to post a link and have the wrath of IB strike me down.
