How often do you change your oil?

I know that the HHR has the oil life monitor in the DIC, and that's what I normally go off of, but I was wondering if anyone still changes their oil every 3,000 miles like you normally would on other cars? I seem to be able to go about 8,000-9,000 miles between oil changes, which seems like a lot to me. So, how often do you change your oil? How many miles do you get out of an oil change?

Many threads on this subject with lots of hot debate. I listen to my "DIC".

Sorry if its a duplicate thread. I searched "oil changes" and the search excluded "oil" as a search term, so I didn't really get any good results. I'm not that good at using the search function though.

The search function is easier to use than most think but you have to get creative in your searches. The search function will not generate anything for 3 letter words but you can still use multiple words like "change life" or "life monitor" to generate a more specific result than just typing in change or changes

Regardless, eventually you will see some members post defending changing every 3,000 miles and others that follow the DIC.

Sorry, but for being so young, I'm old fashioned. 3,000 miles for me.

I change my oil once a year, about 16,000 miles. I change the filter half way through, then top off a little. This is exactly 2 cycles from the DIC, which I re-set at the half-way filter change. Using Amsoil 0W-30, good for 1 year or 35,000 miles.

Amsoil full syn 5W-30 says every 6 months on the SS cause with the turbo it's a severe duty, that is about what the DIC will tell ya if you average 1k a month.

The standard 2.2 or 2.4 non turbo could do once a year or every 25k for the 5W-30 Ams.
