Unhappy instrument cluster has gone wacky

I have a 2008 LS...my instrument panel has gone loco..I have a check air bag warning and my lights on the rear view mirror don't work. this all happened at once, except the lights..those went out a month ago...I was told I might have a short.....how does one find a short? Has this happened to others?

I and several others have experienced this. Use the search box at the top of the site page and search for upper and lower fuse box fix. Much has been written. The underhood fuse box is a two part (upper and lower) box. Fuses/connections come loose and some people infer that the car was shipped with loose fuses. Many weird things can happen when you have a loose electrical connection. May the force be with you.....

Is there anything we can do to try and help with this issue, Orchidmoon72? We can imagine how this must be frustrating and we want to apologize for this inconvenience. Please private message us your VIN, mileage and contact information if we can look further into this matter for you.

I bet if you paid for his repair so it will be correct instead of the Lemons that GM is recalling right now, that might 'help'.

While you're at it, you can solve my steering issue that is causing my steering wheel to shake more than a jackhammer on a road commission crew.. I am NOT happy.

Sorry, I didn't mean to, but I ....

Could it be a bad body control module?

I'm having a similar issue with the wife's '06 2LT, it's auto, along with the gauge needles fluxing, the warning lights come on, and the solenoid in the gear shifter starts sending Morse code, then the trans wants to shift real hard. Trace it to what seems like a bad ECU/ECM/PCM under the hood. Will know for sure soon.

Mine just the other day was a loose ground to the transmission , it seemed tight but one ground eyelet was moveable just a little twist of the 13 mm wrench and a negative terminal disconnect for 30 minutes to reset the computer has fixed the issue and I am keeping an eye on it

Instrument cluster went wacky on my 2007, fortunately while it was still under warrantee. Dealer at the time said, lots of those are going bad, ordered a new one, and installed it the following week. Have had no problems since.

Hi Laco,

I’m sorry your instrument cluster went wacky! However, I’m happy to hear your dealership was able to install a new one for you and you’re no longer experiencing any problems. Please feel free to reach out if there’s anything I can help you with!

Enjoy the rest of your week,

Kayla K.
