I have a 2007 LS 2.2l 75,000 miles, easily and lightly driven, I’m second owner…first owner was dealership lease by a little old lady who only drove it to church and the Piggly Wiggly on Sunday….I can trust my Dealership can’t I?
Me- religiously changed oil@ DIC 30% + - added Zmax every change… really quieted slight valve ticking.
I want to replace the stock timing tensioner bolt and the newly designed upper tensioner bolt…no noise or issues…preventative only. Also valve cover gasket so I can look at the gaskets and timing/balance chain and tensioners…so might as well rip off the timing chain cover also.
How does the oil pump hold up over the years and water pump? Is this a good time to replace them? Or a waste?
What about the water pump tube O rings… think they may be brittle and due to be replaced?
Hoses belt anti flush all in the plan but need advise so I can build a list of parts to order….squibt

 

That valve ticking just might be the front timing chain guide , either the top bolt or guide itself.
if you change the tensioner you might as well change the timing chain and the balance shaft chain, and while your at it the water pump. Since you have to remove the thermostat housing and tube , replace those o rings and gaskets.
if you have never drained the coolant, you will have to to , rinse out the heater core and pour in fresh Dexcool 50/50 , it should be changed every 5 years.
Cloyes has a nice kit , water pump, chains guides and tensioners .

The oil pump usually lasts about 500,000 klms

 

The valve cover gasket is not fibre, it is a rubber O-ring sort of thing that probably won't be damaged.

 

Same with the front cover gasket, but do change the harmonic balancer seal and bolt, the Cloyes timing chain kit should include the cam sprocket bolts

 

My inspection plate gasket was paper that def needed to be replaced.

 

Yes it’s always better to replace gaskets and seals, but in some cases the Ecotec let’s you reuse some gaskets

 

Nice complete kit there from Cloyes Oldblue…Rock Auto $226. They also have all the other parts I need except the Timing Chain Tensioner Guide Bolt but https://partsavatar has it in stock.

 

Valve cover gasket comes w/GROMMETS & SPARK PLUG TUBE SEALS….do the grommets and seals get brittle after 75000 miles? Might as well get them too?

 

Yes get the valve cover kit, and they do carry the front guide replacement bolt
