Are most of the fasteners on my 2011 HHR or SAE. Looks like some of both?
I usually take a few tools with me on long trips. Should I take both Metric and SAE?

Just about all the fasteners on the hhr are metric. Because the ecotec engine is of a fairly new design.
Most of the time when you find both it's because a car manufacture is using an older castings like engine blocks.
For example chevy used 4.3 v6 engine in there blazers.
The engine block was of an older casting design so all the bolts that threaded into the block was sae thread but bolts that threaded into brackets attached the block would be metric because it is of newer design.
This holds true about 80% of the time but there are alway exceptions.

You should be safe having metric tools with you.
