Miles on an Oil Change
#11
The lowest OLI percentage I've shown at an oil change was 43%.....at about 6400 miles. Had a TBN of 3.9....so I probably could have gone another 3-4000 miles, technically. But I change oil based on the usage of the vehicle on each new oil use.
Oh, I use Mobil 1.

Sorry if this was already discussed, but I hadn't seen any threads before discussing how many miles everyone gets out of an oil change. I know oil changes in general have already been discussed thousands of times.

well.....
As it only had three (3) miles on her the first time my @ss hit the seat ...im not sure what I'm Doing yet ...what is the DIC ? is that the digital indicator ??? cause I was just going to follow that ...is this not a good Idea? I just figured somebodys mom and pops speant all that money to send the kid to school who designed it right? LOL ( I'm always tounge in cheek)
Seriously though does anyone know what it comes filled with from the factory ???
Usually I am traditionally hard on my vehicals but am planning on being at least semi anal on her care and upkeep but I have a lot to learn from the show car / car club set ... hell i might even buy a car cover for her seeing as she will be setting alot
Also hey not to hijack but I got auto start with her unexpectedly ...but you lock the doors hit the button and she fires up runs 10 minutes and shuts herself down ...as she will be setting alot I thought it would be a good Idea to do this once a day period to keep her lubed and ready ...see I brought it back to oil related topic ...well kinda !

Do you mean a thread like this?
I'm right
No you're not I am
You both are wrong because I have my owners manual here and it says this
I don't care what the manual says it is this, cause I build motors
All of you are wrong because I am wearing superman undies
I own a Saturn dealer and I'm right
Yeah well, I wear wymens panties and I'm right
I see your wymens panites and raise you boys superman tighties
WTS guys, its about oil not undies, it is this and that is the end of it.
There is no more Saturn, but I own Neptune and I'm right.

My question is about time instead of mileage; didn't want to start a new thread about oil change frequency.
I bought my HHR new nearly 6 months ago. Have driven barely over 4000 miles and the oil life reading is about 45%. The manual only mentions oil life indicator, saying nothing about the "or X months, whichever comes first" I'm used to from older vehicles (with my previous vehicle I got the oil changed within 6 months even if it hadn't gone 3000 miles).
Am probably going to schedule an oil change at the 6 month mark unless someone can convince it's unnecessary to do so.
How important is the "lube" part of oil/lube/filter and is it a concern to go a long time between lubrication?
