Use the "telephone" old fashioned communication device to contact the salvage yard of your choice. Explain your needs, they will do all of the work. They are all connected, chances are if you buy one from your local yard it will come from 1,000 miles away.

Use the old fashioned communication device called a "telephone". Call the salvage yard of your choice, explain your needs, they will find what you need. They do not rely exclusively on what is in their yard, they can check all over the country, unless you are being a PITA and they tell you to "go away".

im to the point now of no return.. the fixed solutions didnt work on the HHR knock.now down to just understanding its a bad rod or bearing. so time for a new motor...

well used but new to me...

easiest way to get motor out and in.. through bottom or through the top?

2.4 will bolt up and match up to a 2.2?

would you trust a motor from out of country?

While a 2.4 should plonk right in without too much trouble.

The "fun" part would be sourcing a 2.4 ECM and for your model year, and finding a tech skillful enough to do the programming needed to get everything communicating properly.

Economically, you'd have to weigh the modest displacement and power gains against the pitfalls of getting the electronics right.

It's been said here on the forum lots of times, but the easiest way to repower an HHR is "like for like", match the model year and engine from the donor vehicle to the recipient.
