The tape is a secondary adhesive point, not the weather proofing .

Metal butyl patch

Hey everyone, newbie here and thanks for letting me on your site. My 2007 hhr has been leaking a lot recently because of the butyl patch. Replaced it with thin aluminum sheet metal from lowes and black rtv sealant and put in new cabin filter and blower motor resistor, so far so good, no leaks. Would share some photos but not sure how to load them on this site from my cell phone.
