Oil change Question
for one....I will never have my ride service at a GM dealer... nothing but bad experiences at the Stealer service .... plus I have a great mechanic... Stealer will always tell 3-5k... no more...
my guy said if I got 12.5k out of to change it with the same stuff and go for another 10-12k... so that's what I did....

I run a lot of miles and routinely get over 100,000 before trading, I kept one cadillac for 265,000. I never run more than 5,000 on a batch of Mobil 1 and it has served me well. At WalMart it is less that $25 for 5 quarts and the HHR is so easy to change, why not?
I do not wish to offend you but, this MAY be one of those times that you shouldn't listen to your dealer. The vast majority of dealers still recommend an oil change at 3000-5000 miles......even when the OLI indicates much more is available....50-75% sometimes. It appears GM has not been able to convince the dealers on the worth of the OLI technology.
The best way to understand this topic it to be informed on how the Oil life is determinded and how well Mobile one will hold up.
Times have changed and what once was true is not always true today.
The percentage is a accurate form of reading oil life and it is good enough for GM and their 100,000 mile warranty.
Be aware I have dealers all the time spew false info on many thing due to just being uninformed or even at time dishonest. The best defense in dealing with car service and dealers is to learn what is going on and then you never will be anyone's fool.

one reason may be is they don't make Mobil 1...(or pick your fav syn. brand).
Harley did the same thing since owners were using aftermarket synthetic oils..
No money made there..
