original oil ?

Is this ACDELCO oil the original used by the manufacturer? I plan to stick to original stuffs when it comes to repair/regular maintenance.

It could be, I’m not 100% sure of it. It does have the Dexos designation , I believe that started in 2010 or 2011, so it’s not the original type oil for your 2007.
Check your owners manual.
At 14 years old , who knows what oil was used in it prior to you buying the HHR . Just don’t use anything that claims it’s high mileage, that stuff isn’t well liked by these Ecotec engines

In the owner manual all it says is to use 5W30 that meets GM 6094M standards and certified with stars and for gasoline engine. I don't see any mention of GM 6094M anywhere in any oil. The one I bought from rockauto is also said to be backward compatible with dexos first gen. It worries me a bit that this oil was cheaper and doesn't have GM 6094M mention anywhere... should I still use it, or is it too risky? I plan to keep that car for a long time.

They changed the spec to DEXOS.

I imagine that the factory gets the lowest bidder DEXOS spec.; especially since the bankruptcy. Probably changes periodically.
These days you have to look hard to find a full or semi synthetic that is NOT DEXOS spec. I think that oil that gets sold out of somebodies garage is not DEXOS.

Relax! Read the Owner Manual and updated TSBs. The new recommended ATF is full synthetic Dexron VI, original 2006-2007 came with dino (Dexron III. You don't necessarily want to use what the factory used, things change. .

Oils Change ...Engines change ...
You probably cannot buy the exact oil that came in your HHR.
The more important question is what oil is the best NOW.
Good luck finding the correct answer. You can certainly get a lot of opinions.
Many HHR owners are using Mobil 1 5/30
I personally have found that Pennzoil Platinum full synthetic 5/30 works best for me. I change the oil and filter every 3000 miles. because I LOVE my HHR, and I drive it in town a lot.

NAPA full synthetic for me. Why? It's Valvoline oil and its very reasonably priced. Caught it on sale last time for $19 for a 5 quart jug 5w30. Napa filter also, they are Wix filters.

Lets not get into the great oil brand debate again. Use ANY OIL LABELLED DEXOS 5w30. Because that is what GM recommends. The only brand recommendation is for the SS, they came with Mobil 1 installed and recommended.

Use the brand you like, GM doesn't care, I don't care, the world doesn't care.
