P0301 continues to popup

For the past month ive had a P0301 code constantly popping up. Ive tried new ac delco plugs, cleaning throttle body and map sensor, new air filter, lucas fuel system additive, high test alcohol free gas, and techron fuel injector cleaner. None if those made any difference. Yesterday the code had come back after being cleared. While in walmart I noticed the techron additive in the black bottle. I had tried the one in the gray bottle. I bought it and added it to the gas tank. I had left the cel uncleared. Within 10 miles of adding the techron the cel went out.

You can continue to throw your money away OR, you can do a compression and leakdown test to find out what the problem is.

Be aware that the vast majority of carbon buildup stems from a pcv system. Can't et away from it,, it's part of the process. To this day Porsche, Benz and GM (with their high power Corvette engines) still have issues with pcv systems.
It could be worse, be glad you don't have direct injection.

Short of the pressurized specialty chemical systems dealerships have, what you used is good.
Hydrogen gas is supposed to work very well, but not a DIY solution.
This Mopar product is about the best out there for a DIY.

On older pre oxy sensor engines I always just used straight water injection whenever I got a new to me vehicle, but these days a tankful of Chevron premium once in a while will keep you clean.
It has a enough of the same ingrediant that you used.

Seafoam. But only if you are CERTAIN there are no electrical issue with wires, coils, etc.

I hate Seafoam, but if your engine is really coked up, you will piss your neighbors off while you clean it.

I had this code a couple of years ago on a trip in the middle of winter. It was intermittent. A couple of bottles of fuel injection cleaner cleared it up.

However it's always possible you have a flaky injector.

Texaco sells the same gas (with Techron) since they are the same company now.

That is what I use, very good additive. I also installed a catch can with the 5 micron mesh filter on the output (found on eBay) and it is very well designed and actually catches oil with no modification unlike the other poorly designed catch cans like I used to have that let it right through. Under $50 on eBay. Worth it!
