Question relative to transmission fluid

My car is running A1. I bought it used and now is 80 000 miles. It's a 2007 LS 2.2L and I don't think it ever has a transmission fluid change or flush. Should I proceed with either or is it risky and I should leave the transmission fluid as it is? Thanks

According to the OM , it’s lifetime transmission fluid, no need to change it unless you drive in severe conditions, like heavy traffic using you HHR as a taxi or delivery vehicle.
That being said, it’s up to you, I change fluid and filter at 100,000 miles. Along with spark plugs, coolant

I do have the OM.

I need to double check with actual owners. I heard stories from people who changed or flushed their transmisson fluid and things went downhill from there. And I doubt the OM was written for a 15 years old HHR.

There is a difference between changing fluid and flushing fluid. Do not flush your fluid, that can cause problems.

Many shops advise against flush and fill on transmission with over 100,000 miles. But they also recommend flushing the electronic power steering fluid.

I changed my tranny fluid, filter and the spark plugs when I bought my HHR.
I did not do a 'flush'.
That was in 2016 at 108k.
Getting ready to do it again this year at 190k.
This may be overkill but it's how I do things.

So, again, it’s up to you the owner, simply drop the transmission pan drain the fluid, replace the filter ( AC Delco)
gently wipe the gasket off and the gasket surfaces, wipe out the pan , reinstall the gasket and pan torque the bolts to 89 inch/lbs . Fill with transmission fluid,

Here’s the chart of capacities

No matter what the parts guy or shop guy says use Dexron VI , a 2006 may have come with Dex III but GM changed recommendation to Dex VI for all. It is synthetic designed for long life.
