2008 has 2 cats...
If the O2 sensors are ok, why replace?
I've had no issues with the $147.00 pipe in 3 years but the decision is yours,
It came with three new nuts and gasket for the exhaust manifold flange , and 2 nuts and bolts and gasket for the flange at the other end of the pipe.
This might not last as long as OEM , but the OEM is broken and requires replacement
2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 Chevrolet HHR Exhaust Catalytic Converter 2 4L | eBay
This clamps on with a new O2 bung, and is much more cost effective, and saves you the labour and welders fees

I've got a 2008 that I'm going to have to do this to and I'm liking the lower price.

Sorry donbrew, could you explain a little further?
I know that my county has emissions testing but won't fail me if the check engine light is on.
I don't know if they actually measure the emissions out of the exhaust or what. I just know that the exhaust leak it has now is very loud and smelly and if I can save $80 - $100, I'd like to.

I don't live in Texas.
Some states have requirements that include labeling and construction, some even require the same manufacturers as the factory.
If you are wanting to save money just get the repair coupling, unless you have a P0420 code.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Direct-Flex-...5U7xt-&vxp=mtr for example, there are others.
Drive as little as you can and with the windows open until it gets fixed.

I know. Pretty crazy, right? I didn't take my truck in for inspection for a week last year because my CEL was on. I found out afterwards, no problem. Took it in, passed.
