Snapped the TC Cable

Snapped the TC Cable

I accidentally ran over a good size rock the other day, and it snapped the TC cable that connects to the left tire. I live in Miami, so I never need TC, but I was wondering if this is something even worth taking to the shop immediately or can it wait until I have to go into the shop for something else and they just take care of it at the same time.

Just confirming. But I would think that even though you live in Sunny Miami, it can come in handy for things other than weather conditions that us Northerners experience. Helps during flooding rains with the hydroplaining from my experience..

Think the OP wants to know if driving it with the TC wires broken (disconnected) is going to screw up any of the other electrical/electronics system in the vehicle (fix it now or wait)
I'll leave that answer to our more technically astute fellows . . .

Ok so we are talking about the ABS wheel sensor wiring. You can drive without the sensor working but you should have an antilock brake light on with a code in the system for the damaged wheel speed sensor.

With the dash light on you will not have anti lock brakes or traction control. Your car will take a longer space to stop in a panic stop.

I would fix it as soon as you are able.

The sensor is sold with the wheel bearing and is replaced together.

On a side note: wheel bearings can be damage by an impact. If you start hearing wheel bearing noises get it looked at very soon.

You may be able to splice the wire.
Which side of the connector got broken?
You may experience random activation of the ESC, which can be scary.

I recently had a similar experience. I accidentaly cut the wires on mine. I drove a a few days with no problems. Once I figure out that i had cut them it was as simple as splicing them back together.
