Aux Cable
Hello,
Before I start I hope I posted this thread in the right spot....Sorry if I didn't!!
I did this little mod a couple of days ago. I was in Tucson and I finally had time to post this. As you can see it's very simple. I went to Auto Zone first and bought this electrical rubber plugs for $1.50. I took a 3/8 drill bit and removed a little bit of the rim so I could fit the cable. From there I just ran it down behind the the stereo and I drilled another hole underneath the plastic tray you can remove. That's where I placed the rubber gasket so it won't scratch and cut the aux cable. The whole thing took about 30 min. Let me what you guys think.

i had thought about something similar to this, however i would have recommending getting a 90 degree angle attachment from the cord, and it wouldn't even stick out.
also, if you position the cord correctly you can actually reattach area around the radio and just run the cord right into the crack where they meet, no drilling required. It will all attach with just the cord running between them making a small gap. I had test fit mine like this, but i don't use the ipod enough to need it.

I tried doing that, but I couldn't close the gap. I plan on getting a Alpine in a couple of months with a Ipod controller. Having the cell phone charger and the aux cable just laying there was driving me crazy. Enough ranting....thanks for the the idea on the 90 degree angle

BEANWAGON -- Nice setup - You could also make it look a little cleaner and cleanup the front, by ading a 2nd AUX Jack to the rear of your existing radio, and it's not even that hard! Check out my thread at https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-tutorial-library-21/adding-2nd-aux-hook-up-07-hhr-21568/
Looks great though.
